Racial Profiling and Intersections
In my interview with , this week we dealt with the topic of how actor/artist/businessperson Waris Ahluwalia was stopped from boarding a plane in Mexico City because he would not allow his turban to be taken off and searched by security personnel.
To him, it was a breach of his faith, his integrity and a sign of racial profiling. He protested and took to social media.
The airline soon apologized and changed its policies. Similarly, Canadian YouTube star Jus Reign was profiled and had his turban searched in a manner that was disrespectful to him and his faith.
Racial profiling, intersections with community alliances, and airports as multi layered legal spaces are all a part of this interview.
